Winter Activities & Competitions
To help overcome some of the isolation which the winter months may bring, we have arranged three extra activities – photography, poetry and hyacinth competitions! Photography
Members are encouraged to send in photos which will be displayed on our website – with prizes for the winning entries.
During October and November, the topic is ‘Garden Wildlife’
During December and January, ‘An Amusing Scene’ with a caption.
During February and March, the topic is ‘Winter Garden’.
Photos should be sent to giffordhorti@gmail.com during the months concerned.

Members are asked to ‘have a go’ at writing a piece for the website – again with prizes for the winners.

January, any form of poetry on a gardening theme

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR POETRY ENTRIES HERE....... Hyacinths
Many of you will recall the suggestion made last year that members might participate in a competition to grow the best hyacinth. The current situation makes this a little harder to organise but the plan is as follows: Members may collect a single hyacinth from Joe Clark’s car which will be parked by the Village Hall on Saturday 7th November between 9am and 12noon. A photo of the blooming bulb should be sent to giffordhorti@gmail.com before Tuesday 9 February. The winner(s) will be announced by Beryl and Stan at their presentation on Wednesday 10 February. In the event of restrictions having been lifted by February, members will be asked to bring their blooming bulb to the Village Hall on 10 February.
